I met young charismatic & passionate guy on the one of competition and on the another day, I had an opportunity to have an exclusive interview with him. His name is De Bean, he is only 23 years old and he had a lot of achievement and experience in Bartending. He started his careers in the hospitality when he was 18, started as cooker but he doesn’t feel comfort, because working on the kitchen is a huge deal with hot temperature, then he decided to became bartender. The reasons why he becomes a bartender, because he loved spirits since he was younger. At the first time on his career he should work in the bar back as wash dishes in Grand Hyatt Nusa dua during 3 months. When he was on the bar back, he always never giving up to try and practice to mix on the spare time. After that he promoted as a bartender for 9 months, then he moved to Swiss-Bell hotel and now he’s working on Three Bar Maya Sanur.
Finally, he showed his rising star for the first time on the bartending competition after he had an accident on his another job in furniture and his Bar Manager Mr. Bhayu Darmadi courage him to join that Mixology competition and the result is he won the best cocktails with his recipe liver detox it contains healthy juice (apple, lemon, ginger, honey) mix with a little whisky. The most challenging competition for him was in Makassar, he made signature cocktails and brings the stories about Krishna Culture, because his cocktails colored blue and he used Indian spice, for the garnish he put peacock feathers and additional flute topping, as story Krishna playing his flute and he made top 10 and after another challenge he won the champion.
De Bean is a simple person and multi-talent, he is good cooker, musician, he has creative hands on furniture stuff, also his taste for cocktails, his favorite is gin&tonic and old fashioned. He is already made 5 years overall for bartending experience and he’s also giving courageous message to the new bartender generation with the hard-work on what you want, then you will get what you want, he practically beliefs pray to God, and never stopped learning, because bartending world is very complex and has huge mean, so keep practicing and experiment.
