7 THINGS EVERY MIXOLOGIST WANTS YOU TO KNOW

543

It is common for people to confuse a mixologist and a bartender, as people who do the same thing, perform the same tasks. And this happens to be only one of the many misconception people have about mixologists – which doesn’t help much in making their day or rather evening!

Below are 7 things every mixologist wants you to understand.

1. They Have A Degree

Every mixologist wants people to know that they aren’t high school dropouts.Since all mixologists should have a good knowledge of beverages and flavors. Most, if not all, have a professional degree in mixology. Yes a degree from an actual college!

2. Mixology Is Just Like Painting

Mixologists are artists in the world of fancy cocktails and mocktails. What they do is akin to how a painter mixes different colors to paint his masterpiece. A mixologist also mixes different flavors together, keeping everything right to create the perfect masterpiece or cocktail, if you will.

3. Not Alcoholics

Mixologists don’t enjoy drinking or have a drinking problem, they just like creating drinks. And no, they don’t have to taste each flavor over and again to remember its taste.

4. That’s A Bartender

Most importantly, mixologists really want people to know that the one serving you drinks at the bar is a bartender, NOT a mixologist! Always remember that!

5. That Straw Is Their Idea

Mixologists don’t only create drinks, but also play a role in the presentations of those drinks. Here their inner artist comes into play again. They ensure that the glasses, accessories and most importantly straws are coordinated with the drink you’ve ordered.

6. Adding Flair

That person juggling drinks while walking on a rope, that’s a Flair Bartender, again NOT a mixologist.

7. Role Swaps

Yes, at times a mixologist might work as a bartender or a flair bartender as well. All three of them have some important differences that everyone needs to know.

So, the next time you visit a bar, enjoy your drink, if you want to share how good your drink was, call for the bartender or mixologist.
